Scouts are the oldest of the sections that make up 3rd Shaw (St. Mary’s) Scout Group and cover the age range 10½ to 14 years old. They meet between 7.45 and 9.30pm on Friday evenings during term time.

Scouts started at St Mary’s in 1944. Over the years we have seen lots of young people and adults enjoy a wide range of activities and this continues today with an increasing number of new challenges.

The adult in charge of the troop is called the Scout Leader and is supported by a number of other leaders and helpers. All are glad to help if you have any questions.

Scouts meet new friends from all over the world, explore the outdoors via camps and expeditions, learn new adventurous and creative activities and lots more. Our Scouts are regularly involved in climbing and archery and every two years attend a summer camp abroad.

Scouts wear a teal shirt or polo shirt and can earn badges for a range of activities. For more details of the various badges and their position on the uniform, click here.
