Rose Queen

The Rose Queen is a long-standing tradition that we here at St Mary’s are very proud of. Each year a young lady is chosen to be our Rose Queen, then a retinue of younger boys and girls are selected to support the Rose Queen. The aim of the Rose Queen is to build our church and community by encouraging different families to work together to promote and raise much needed funds for our church.

This year's Rose Queen is Emily Howarth. Emily is 13 years old, attends Crompton House School, and is a former pupil of St Mary’s Primary School. Emily helps out in Sunday School and is also an acolyte. Emily was crowned on Sunday 13 May 2012, and her year in office will run until Saturday 18 May 2013, when a new Queen will be crowned.

Emily and her retinue visit other Rose Queen’s "At Homes" and promote our Church.  Our own "At Home" event this year takes place in Saturday 16 March 2013.

So far this year, Emily and her retinue have organised a Ladies Night, sold cakes and sweets in church, and they have a Valentines Dinner Dance arranged.
